Diversey up to Irving Park
Lakeview, officially Lake View, is about 4.5 miles southeast of our storefront in a straight line. It runs from Diversey Parkway north to Irving Park Road and Montrose, between Ravenswood Avenue and the lake. Just over 103,000 people lived here at the 2020 census, the second-largest count of any Chicago community area, and parking is at a premium, especially when the Cubs are home.
Six L stations serve it, Belmont and Addison among them, and Broadway, Halsted, Clark and Southport are the big north-south streets. Some blocks need a residential permit to park on, and temporary permit slips for guests are sold at aldermanic offices.
Wrigley Field nights and LV2
Wrigley Field, at 1060 W. Addison, fills the block between Clark, Addison, Waveland and Sheffield, and the Wrigleyville blocks around it run from Grace to Cornelia and from Wilton to Racine. When anything is on at the ballpark, the parking rules change.
The City Clerk’s stadium parking page says residents near Wrigley who aren’t in Residential Parking Zone 383 may qualify for a free LV2 permit from their alderman’s office, and that a car in a stadium area without the right permit may be ticketed or towed. The city’s 2026 home opener notice adds that LV2 restrictions cover every game, concert and event, not just night games, from 5 to 10 p.m.
So if your dead car is on a Wrigleyville block, check what’s on at the park before you book. A pickup earlier in the day stays clear of the restricted window. If the car does get towed, 311 can tell you where it went.
Condos on the Drive, walk-ups off Halsted
Along Lake Shore Drive and Broadway the housing is mostly condos and mid-rise apartments, while Northalsted has greystone and brownstone walk-ups.
For a condo garage, we need the building’s OK and a sense of how a tow truck gets in, mainly the entrance and any posted clearance. Our guide to junk car pickup from condo and apartment parking goes through what to ask management. For a walk-up, tell us whether the car is at the curb or in a rear lot, and if it’s at the curb, what the zone signs on that block say.
Northalsted was the nation’s first gay village officially recognized by a big city government, and its rainbow pylons went up along Halsted in 1998. It hosts the Pride Parade on the last Sunday of June, plus Northalsted Market Days. If the car is near Halsted, mention it when one of those is coming up, so we don’t schedule a pickup into a parade.
Damaged cars and next door
Crash damage or a dead engine doesn’t stop a sale. See how we buy accident-damaged cars and how junk car removal works from first call to pickup. We pay cash for junk cars in Lakeview from Belmont Harbor over to Graceland West, and the tow is free.
Irving Park is the line with Uptown. Ravenswood separates you from North Center, and Diversey from Lincoln Park. All of our areas are listed on the service area page.
