Across the North Shore Channel from us
Lincolnwood is about 2.5 miles west of our storefront in a straight line, and the North Shore Channel is the line between the village and our side of the city. Chicago borders it on the south and east, and Skokie sits to the north and northwest. Lincoln, Devon and Touhy Avenues carry the neighborhood shopping, and Pace and CTA buses run through.
West of the Edens Expressway is the residential area known as The Towers. If you live there, say so when you call, along with the street and house number.
Houses, driveways and the enclosed-structure rule
Lincolnwood is a village of houses. About three in four homes are single-family detached and more than four in five are owner-occupied, by Census Bureau estimates. So the car you’re selling is probably in a driveway or a garage rather than a parking lot.
That matters, because the village’s code enforcement rules say inoperable vehicles on residential property, and ones without a current license, have to be stored in an enclosed structure. A garage counts. The driveway doesn’t. If the garage is already full of everything else, selling the car is the simplest fix, and we’ll tow it out of the driveway for free.
For a driveway pickup, tell us whether the car rolls and whether anything parked behind it will need to move. For a garage, the width of the door and which way the car faces help.
Snow days on Pratt and the side streets
After 2 or more inches of snow, Lincolnwood switches to alternate-side parking on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: even-address side on even dates, odd side on odd dates, with weekends and major holidays exempt. Pratt Avenue is a snow emergency route, so there’s no parking on it at all once 2 inches fall.
A dead car at the curb can’t follow either rule. The village plows 75 lane miles, and a car that can’t move leaves a gap the plow has to work around.
The village also floated an overnight parking change in late 2025: the Village Board discussed limiting overnight street parking to Lincolnwood-registered vehicles and asked residents for input. When we checked, it was a proposal, not a rule.
What it’s worth, and the neighbors
If the car is simply old, see how we handle old and high-mileage cars, and read our guide on what a junk car is worth before you call. We pay cash for junk cars in Lincolnwood from The Towers to the channel, keys or no keys.
Across the channel to the east is West Ridge, home to our storefront. Skokie is north, and North Park is south across Devon. Every other town and neighborhood we serve is on the service area page.
